BOTULINUM TOXIN

Introduction

Purified botulinum toxin A (Botox) was FDA approved in 2002 for treatment of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows known as glabellar lines.
Botox®Cosmetic has been successfully used to treat severe glabellar lines and is approved for use in adult patients up to 65 years of age.

The repeated facial expressions of smiling, laughing and frowning can cause dynamic wrinkles, such as crow's feet and forehead lines.

When Botox®is injected into the muscles surrounding the brow area for instance, they are paralyzed or relaxed for a period of time.

By relaxing these muscles, the wrinkles in that area will fade.

In long-term use, Botox can help prevent shallow static wrinkles from growing deeper and hence achieving skin rejuvenation.
